WEST WITTERING BEACH & EAST HEAD

West Wittering East Head National Trust West Sussex

The blue-flag sandy beach at West Wittering is one of the South Coasts most beautiful beaches and offers excellent facilities. Lined with colourful beach huts its a great place for a family day out. With a wide, long stretch of sandy beach, there's plenty for the bucket and spade enthusiast to do and when the tide is out, warm, shallow lagoons remain on the sandy flats, perfect for children to splash about and paddle in the water.

During the summer months, the beach is patrolled by lifeguards (in the swimming zone), and facilities include a café, showers and beach shop. The car park has large grassy areas creating the perfect spot for a picnic.

In the winter months, you can enjoy the walk along West Wittering beach to East Head. East Head, owned by the National Trust, is an important ecological site and offers a great place to shake off those winter cobwebs.

West Wittering Beach is very popular in the summer months, and as such, there is often large volumes of traffic heading to the beach. It's recommend to get there early or allow plenty of time for your journey. Alternatively, you can cycle or walk from Chichester using the Salterns Way.
