The Salterns Way cycle route from central Chichester to the sandy beaches of West Wittering and East Head.

The full route is 12 miles if you cycle from The Cross in Chichester to the dunes of East Head, although there are shorter stretches you can choose to join and exit the route for a gentle, scenic bike ride or if cycling with young family members. Much of Salterns Way is off-road, with a few stretches along quiet lanes, and some busier roads.

Salterns Way Cycle Route is always open

There are cafes and pubs at Chichester Marina, Dell Quay, Birdham and Itchenor.

Several sections of Salterns Way are off-road and offer access opportunities for all-terrain or soft-wheeled wheelchairs. Although the route is flat some stretches have gravel or uneven surfaces.
