Chichester City Walls 10 homebacknext
From the vantage points of the Walls see fine private gardens and in the heart of the City the charm of the varying roofscape. See how the medieval builders made such good use of every inch of land that lies within the City Walls. Further exploration will be rewarding.   Walls Walk signpost.
View of Chapel Street.   Chapel Street bridge.
Chapel Street, named after a chapel founded here in 1774. The present Providence Chapel, built in 1809, is in the centre.   A bridge allows Chapel Street to pass through the North Walls. It was built in 1846 to give access to the nurseries in Orchard Street.
North Walls.   The North Walls at Northgate.
Observing the Walls from ground level reveals interesting features of construction. One wonders about the purpose of the arches.   The North Walls returns to street level at Northgate. At the end, on the other side of the road, a short lane leads to Priory Park.
