|DAVID PETER GRAY|
|13 August 1936 - 22 November 2013|
|David and Jackie moved into Hattons in the mid-nineties and found one of our Section magazines which contained a write up of our annual Memorial Meeting in Elms Lane. David telephoned me to say that if he could be of any help at any future meetings on the anniversary of Sir Henry's death he would be only too delighted.
I persuaded David to join our Club but he was not ready to purchase a motor car yet. Another Club member asked me to sell his 20hp motor car for him and so one 22 April I drove the 20hp to Elms Lane and reversed into David & Jackie's drive and announced "I have brought your new motor car". Both of them liked 'Poppy' and very soon they were the proud owners.
David was now a RR enthusiast and a couple of years later rang to ask my opinion on a special 25/30 advertised by the Real Car Company. We drove up to North Wales together, road tested the motor car and so David became the owner of 'Primrose'.
Another couple of years later, Keith Jay decided to sell his very nice Silver Dawn and knowing David was interested I jostled Keith on the price at that year's annual rally. 'Petunia' soon arrived at Hattons.
With three motor cars in their stable, Club wise, they never looked back.
He was a true enthusiast, a great supporter of our Club and fine Chairman of our Section. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed by us all.
