CROSS SECTION QUIZ
At the Hilton Avisford Park Hotel, near Arundel - 26 October 2003

On Sunday 26 October, a bright, sunny morning encouraged many members to bring their Club cars even though this was an indoor event. Starting with coffee and biscuits, the Quiz is always a good time for chatting to old friends and meeting new ones. On entering the main conference hall we were surprised to see the impressive display of no less than five Phantom motor cars. They were Guy Peploe's Phantom II by Hooper, Ray Thatcher's Phantom II, also by Hooper, Martin Coomber's Phantom III by Van den Plas (Belgium), Paul Capper's Phantom VI by HJ Mulliner - Park Ward, and the New Phantom, courtesy of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Goodwood.

Members were teamed up in groups of four or six. To get the Quiz underway we were treated to Name That Tune - show tunes sung by the entertainers, Diane James and Paul Shinar, whose appearance was sponsored by Paul Capper. There was an observation round, a compilation film specially made for Central Southern Section of Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, where entrants had to name the cars and the stars. Next followed rounds of general knowledge questions, then there was a welcome break for lunch, a hot and cold buffet with drinks from the bar and more coffee. Later, we had to name the cars in the picture gallery and, after time to look at the Phantoms on display, a series of questions about their features completed the Quiz. The winners, by eight points, were South Eastern Section and they were presented with the trophy and bottles of wine by the Chairman, Tony Leach.

The Quiz masters were Dawn Huntley (South Eastern Section Committee Member) and Paul Capper (Central Southern Section Committee Member). The layout of the room and set up of the Quiz was by Tom Wright (CSS).
