VISIT TO MICHELHAM PRIORY NEAR HAILSHAM
Sunday 13 July 2003
With perfect summer weather, an ideal venue and good company, what could be missing? A few more
Section Members and their Club Cars perhaps? Just twenty-five Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars and
their occupants from Central Southern and South-Eastern Sections enjoyed perhaps some of the finest
weather
this summer on a return visit to Michelham Priory, the magnificent 14th century moated manor house
near Lewes. With unbroken sunshine throughout the day, we were grateful for a refreshing light breeze
and the dappled shade from the many fine trees that line the riverbank beside the house where we
were able to enjoy our picnics, although some members sampled the delights of the excellent on-site
restaurant located in the nearby stable block. The setting on the island was again reserved exclusively
for our use with other vehicles restricted to the public car park on the 'mainland'. So if you missed
this one, you missed a treat! Make sure that you don't lose out next time we visit this lovely venue!
