SPIT ROAST BUFFET AT 'STADDLES' (CHATEAU LEACH), FISHBOURNE
Sunday 6 July 2003

Between 11am and noon some thirty-four cars arrived and were duly parked on the lawn to the side of the house. Fortunately the weather had been dry on the preceding days and no damage was being done to the grass. After an aperitif of Summer Punch and a chance to meet friends, a Hog Roast with salads was available to members. This proved to be an adequate meal for most people on such a hot summer's day.

I asked a lady friend of my sons to select 'the car she would most like to take home' and after walking round the fine display she decided upon the 1965 Bentley S3 Continental (Chinese eye) belonging to Andrew Honour. A prize of two Bentley china mugs, kindly given by Mike Scott, was presented to the owner but he decided to keep his car for the time being!

The following day at the monthly committee meeting the consensus of opinion was that it was a very good event and may be worth repeating in the future.
