SECRETARY'S AT HOME DAY AT LITTLE STAMMERHAM FARM
Sunday 17 July 2016

Our Hosts: Ted and Kate Meachem.

SAHD, as it is now known, attracted quite a few members and their cars, as this occasion usually does. On this day, in addition to our picnic arrangements, we enjoyed our own private fish and chips from a dedicated fish and chip van and Kate laid on some superb if rather fattening puds. We were seated in warm sunshine on the front lawns near the substantial fish pond which appeared to be brimming with gold fish, the latter being the subject of much attention of an almost resident heron. The bird chased off frequently by Lenny the resident flat coat retriever.

The momentous event of the day was the announcement and the arrival of a new Dawn. No fanfares but the gradual opening of the overhead garage door revealed our Secretary's latest pride and joy, a brand new, straight of the production line, Rolls-Royce Dawn. This beautiful car in a silver livery with pale blue leather upholstery and light burr-walnut veneer is a truly beautiful car and, dare I say shows in my opinion, a slight change in the design criteria of Goodwood Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. This model and perhaps the Wraith and the Ghost progressively becoming more gentle in appearance and objects of beauty rather than 'in your face' beasts. This of course is just the writer's opinion maybe, but nobody could argue against this being one of the best looking cars in the Rolls-Royce family. Needless to say, this was the first time many had seen a Dawn so it attracted considerable attention, several unable to resist the urge to sit in the driver's seat.
