HOG ROAST AT STADDLES, FISHBOURNE
Sunday 9 August 2015

I was keeping my fingers crossed that the fine sunny weather would continue for the Section's hog roast event. I was not disappointed. The day turned out to be perfect with clear blue skies and was warm - some say I have a hotline to the Almighty but others say I'm just lucky.

There were just under forty cars and over one hundred people on the day. After parking, members and their guests had a chance to quench their thirst with an ice-cold Pimms No.1, served by members of my family. I was somewhat in the doghouse for having arranged this event on my wedding anniversary, but news had got round of my faux pas and so Daphne and I were kindly presented with both flowers and a bottle of champers, in addition to a card signed by all those present. Many others gave us individual presents and cards. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kindness.

The hog roast was served at one o'clock and was the usual tasty meal with lots of crackling followed by an assortment of desserts.

Many members had one- or even two-hour journeys home again, the furthest being John and Sue Eaton who came from Lyme Regis in Dorset.

I would like to thank my family who worked tirelessly to make this event one of the most popular and, of course, thank you to all the members who attended.
