A sunny Sunday morning drive through leafy Surrey, then a long drive up to and through a series of industrial barns set in rolling pastures gives no hint of the treasures within. Robert and Tanya Lewis have amassed a mouth-watering collection of some fifty classic cars, all in pristine condition and most taxed ready for the road, and they are driven frequently, some even raced. The cars are beautifully displayed and complimented by period automobilia; Robert, incidentally, has the largest collection of petrol pumps and illuminated globes in the country! There are three principal garages and inside the first a Mercedes Benz Gullwing together with a Lamborghini Muira and Mansell's 1992 F1 Williams-Renault amongst many others all watched over by a Dalek! Parked in the paddock were around 150 visiting cars ranging from our own Rolls-Royce to Aston Martin, Morgan, Alvis, MG, Jaguar, Ferrari, Porsche and even GT40's and a Bean.

Tanya served copious cups of tea and coffee throughout the morning while Robert talked many of us through his extensive collection. We are most grateful to them both for allowing us access to their lovely home but unfortunately the gardens were out of bounds due to continuing building work. However the main event was intended to raise money for Help for Heroes and to that end we have sent a cheque for six-hundred pounds to that charity.
