Normandy 1

Fifty-five members and friends from France, Belgium, Luxembourg and England in twenty-seven Rolls-Royces and Bentleys, ranging from Derek and Jenny Johnson's 1926 20hp to Dean and Collette Ash's new Continental GT, met in the Mercure Hotel at Deauville/Pont l'Eveque to enjoy the French food, visits to chateaux and haras and gardens and fromageries and distilleries and the beautiful Calvados countryside (Not bad for two days!).

Many participants were regulars so it was good to re-make acquaintance again with Anne Piscarel, the ex-president of the French Section, and Count Eward d'Ursel from Belgium. A disappointment was that Jim Fleming could not attend because of his wife's indisposition, but Suzanne Finch deputised well with a speech in French!

Some members stayed on for extra days to visit other local sites such as Honfleur, Deauville and the Pegasus Bridge.

Once again the weather was very kind despite storms before and after the event. It must be the totally good organisation of Michel and Monique Moniot to whom we send congratulations.
