WINGS & WHEELS, DUNSFOLD AERODROME
Sunday 28 August 2011

Airshow
Part of the fantastic air display.

This year, eleven Rolls-Royce motor cars from CSS ranging from Sue Norwood's magnificent 1923 Silver Ghost to Peter Robinson's prize winning 1984 Silver Spirit, together with Ian Hancock's solitary (but gorgeous and very rare) 1979 Bentley Continental, shared the rally field with several hundred other classic cars to enjoy the spectacular airshow. Sadly no Red Arrows this year following the accident after the Bournemouth Show and the last surviving Avro Vulcan suffered a technical problem on the way to the airshow. Nevertheless impressive, the five hour flying display included the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, RAF Hawk and Hunter aircraft and the Blades Aerobatic Team - enough to satisfy all enthusiasts.

A bright and breezy day punctuated by the odd passing shower acted as backdrop to this year's Wings & Wheels event at Dunsfold Aerodrome. With the aim of raising money for Help the Heroes and other worthy causes, the event is always popular attracting car clubs of all types topped off by a spectacular display of classic cars from Brooklands Museum - the latter of which thunder up and down the runway as part of the motoring display in the morning sequence of the show, as did several exotic Aston Martins, E-type Jaguars and Ferraris.
