| Thirty-one Club motor cars were parked/positioned by Ralph Taylor in the nicely mown paddock on the left of the drive and to one side of the main house. Around sixty-seven members set up their picnic paraphernalia behind the motor cars, to take advantage of the splendid view towards the South Downs. Our hosts, John and Linda had also invited a number of their friends, some in classic motor cars, including the President of the BDC Andrew Day. All in all quite a display in the paddock.
The weather had been kind in the previous week and on this bright sunny day it was a pleasure to wander in the gardens and grounds which are beautifully maintained. John's motor cars (three Mercedes, a Bentley drophead, a Jaguar and a couple of others) were on display in another paddock outside their motor house. Some members enjoyed a game of Croquet on the main rear lawn and some just admired the view from the top of the ha ha. Around the swimming pool members gathered to partake in a glass of Champagne which John kindly provided. Just before lunch we presented John and Linda with a pair of goblets and flowers as a 'thank you'.
A very pleasant relaxing day in the Sussex countryside with grateful thanks to our hosts for making us so welcome at their home.
