HOLLYCOMBE STEAM COLLECTION AND WOODLAND GARDEN, LIPHOOK, HAMPSHIRE
Sunday 23 September 2001

On a chilly Sunday some eighty members and families in twenty-nine cars arrived to enjoy the Fun of the Fair at Hollycombe Steam Collection, just outside Liphook. It soon became warmer and many enjoyed picnics.

This venue offers something for all ages - yesterday's fun today - from the oldest working fairground ride to farmyard animals and a shire horse. The woodland garden contains some of the oldest trees in the country and has a large selection of shrubs including Rhododendrons and Azaleas. The best of the three steam railways is the narrow gauge one which gives wonderful views of Sussex Weald - the driver even stops at the best vantage spot.

Of great interest amongst the cars was Ray Thatcher's newly-acquired Phantom II Hooper Saloon in black and dark green - a splendid example.
