| This is the third time a rally has been held at the home of Tony and Daphne
Leach. The number of Club cars on display on the front lawn was just under
the fifty mark which was almost 50% up on the same event two years ago.
After being parked, members enjoyed a Pimms on the formal lawn, duly
dispensed by my family - some 28 litres being consumed by the members and
guests before they returned to their picnic tables for lunch. This was a
hog roast with potatoes, coleslaw and salad followed by a choice of dessert
produced and served by a local firm specialising in outside barbecue meals.
There were generous portions of meat and I know the pork 'crackling' was
very popular. Sometime after lunch the 'Red Arrows' flew over us - people
thought I had kept quiet about this special air display but it was a bonus
as Goodwood Festival of Speed was also in progress at the same time.
My grateful thanks to all who attended and in particular David and Anne
Steel who helped park the cars along with David Gray and, of course, my
family for all the help they gave me in the preparation and subsequent
clearing up.
