| Thirteen pre- and post-war Club cars and their occupants enjoyed the delights of the Borde Hill Classic Car Show, near Haywards Heath, where yet again we had a prime spot on the lawns with Borde Hill House as a backdrop.
Although the day started rather damp, the sun soon broke through the clouds and parasols rather than umbrellas were in evidence (some members were also seen enjoying ice creams)! Our members were able to wander amongst the 200 acres of gardens, woodland and parkland that included some early roses, water lilies in the Italian garden, some late flowering azaleas and colourful iris in the Round Dell. Also of interest were peach and nectarine fruits in the Victorian glasshouses and the herbaceous plants amongst the remains of the old potting sheds.
Visitors to the gardens showed a keen interest in our motorcars that included Anton and Aileen Spencer's newly acquired 1978 Silver Shadow II in Peacock Blue. Other wheeled attractions included a large display by Porsche with a variety of types on show – even a unique handbuilt 'Cayster' (a cross between a Cayman and a Boxster I believe) belonging to committee member Darren Collins. However, in front of the house there was also a fine display of Morgan cars dating from the 1930s to the present day.
