| 6 April was not the bright, sunny day we had been looking forward to. Snow was falling heavily throughout Sussex, Radio programmes said that roads were impassible, particularly the A3 near Liphook, and recommended staying at home unless your journey was essential. Nevertheless, with some degree of apprehension, we set out from Bognor in a blizzard. The snow was so thick that visibility was down to a few car lengths and the roads were covered in thick slush. Surely this couldn't last - or could it? Well, it did for most of the journey and, in spite of much advice from the area of the passenger seat, we eventually arrived in Liphook and found 'The Links'.
A warm welcome and large cups of hot steaming coffee awaited us and we soon settled down to a good chat. Four Club cars and thirty-two members and guests braved the elements and arrived in time for us to have lunch in our own private dining room. Lunch was very good indeed, the portions were most generous and we were well looked after by the helpful and friendly staff.
By the time we had finished lunch the sun was shining, the roads were dry and we had a glorious ride home though the temperature was still only a little above freezing.
Our thanks go to Tony Leach, who made all the arrangements for this event but was unable to join us because he had to be at The Hunt House for the RREC AGM.
