LUNCH AT THE RED LION, ASHINGTON
Sunday 16 March 2008

Red Lion

'Oh to be in England, now that...'

It was a little damp but fifty-five members arrived at this, new to the Section, venue. Just over half braved the weather in their Club cars.

Rodney and Jean Marple's journey time was over two hours, Ian Parker used buses from Hove (well he does have a bus pass as well as an RR) and Peter Jupe's daughter arrived from America! Thanks to David Steel for braving the weather and ensuring the parking was 'tidy' (which is a euphemism for 'if you park that non-club car there you might get boxed in').

The hostelry was very welcoming with coffee on arrival and the open fire made the atmosphere very cosy. Sunday lunch was served to all and later we sang Happy Birthday to Mae Underwood to celebrate her forthcoming membership into the nonagenarian club. Several members said we should return to the venue again.
