LUNCH AT OLD THORNS GOLF & COUNTRY ESTATE, LIPHOOK
Sunday 24 February 2008

Some twenty-six Club cars were displayed in the overflow car park at the Golf and Country Club, Old Thorns, some two miles from Liphook in Hampshire. This was our second meeting of the year originally suggested by Bernie Batchelor who is a keen member of the golf club as well as being a keen member of our Section. As is often the case the oldest car on show was the Rolls-Royce 40/50 ownedby Chess Ferrier with the usual smattering of Silver Shadows, Silver Spirits, Silver Dawns and Corniche convertibles also visible to the golf club members. Lunch in the form of a carvery was held at 1pm after morning coffee had been taken from 11.30am. I received many complimentary words from members as to how good and plentiful the food was with no complaints from anyone! That is nice to hear from my point of view as the organiser of the day.
