HICKSTEAD, THE ALL ENGLAND SHOWJUMPING COURSE - Saturday
25 August 2001
After entering the showground via the private entrance we parked, this year,
on the River Lawn quite close to the main arena. This grassland area is
usually used for equine ridden and in-hand classes but is also most suitable
for displaying our motor cars and for picnics. Almost one hundred members
and friends arrived in thirty Club cars on a day that turned out to be the
hottest for many years. There was a lot to see around the showground in
addition to the showjumping classes. In the afternoon we were invited to
parade some of our Club cars in the International Arena. The cavalcade
included most of the models from Silver Ghost to Bentley Brooklands and
after two laps each driver was presented with a special Hickstead rosette.
Our grateful thanks to Hickstead for inviting us for the day, which was
enjoyed by all taking part.
