|The annual WW&S event at Groombridge Place Gardens just west of Tunbridge Wells is traditionally held on a hot, sunny day and this year was no exception! Twenty-five Club cars enjoyed (endured?) baking sunshine and temperatures topping 30C. Shade was at a premium in our allocated space in the events field - in fact the sole tree was soon encircled by picnickers desperate to eke out the limited shade on offer. For those venturing out of the shade, the formal gardens were a delightful sight with the backdrop of the moated house and, as usual there was plenty to see and do with several classic car club displays, static steam engines and military vehicles of all sizes taking part.
Under the 'wings' banner of the event title we were treated to two breathtaking aerobatic displays by the 'Road Angel' Solo Aerobatic Display team in single-seat aircraft - a Pitts S2B and a Sukhoi 26 - that made most of us feel very grateful to be firmly routed to the ground.
Congratulations go to Section members David and Ann Biltcliffe from Polegate who won Best Car in Show with 'Goldie' their restored 1935 Derby Bentley with Park Ward body.
