THE BLUEBELL RAILWAY Some twenty-six club cars (plus a couple of strays) brought eighty-one members and friends to Sheffield Park station in deepest East Sussex for a lunch in the Birch Grove suite [Yes, Uncle ("you've never had it so good") Mac' lived nearby], followed by a ride on the 2 o'clock special to Kingscote, the new extension beyond Horsted Keynes and back. Simon, the station chef, put on a special menu, very different from BR food, which seemed to be enjoyed by all. The weather was kind and a good day was had. Because Sundays are busy days for the Bluebell we could not book a large party with a special menu on that day so we went for a Saturday and it was very pleasing to see some members who cannot make our usual Sunday events as well as many regulars with their grand children.
