| This first Cheshire registration number was secured by Lord Egerton of Tatton's son, Maurice, in 1903. It was used on his Darracq, and several other cars later on. On his death in 1958 Tatton Park was left to the National Trust. 'M1' was sold for £331,500 and went to a private UK bidder, for his son's sixth birthday. The proceeds will be used to continue the preservation of Tatton Park. | ||
