Bonhams set a new world record auction price for any Jaguar motor car at The Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester on 11 July. This was the first Jaguar D-Type to roll off the production line in 1955 and its price, when sold new, was £2,500. It was sold here to a British buyer for a magnificent £2,201,500.

The 1955 Jaguar D-Type Sports Racing Car ‘XKD509’ was sold for £2,201,500. That was a new world record auction price for a Jaguar car. During the Bonhams auction of F1 memorabilia, automobilia and models The six-hour sale attracted hundreds of motor enthusiasts.
